Today the ship arrived at Cologne, Germany. The town of Cologne is known for its cathedral which was started in 1248 and was not finished until 1880, construction having been stopped for three hundred years in the 16th century. Today the cathedral is Cologne's landmark and is a masterpiece of Gothic architecture.
After breakfast the ship had a walking tour of Cologne. We had a great guide you showed us the sites and talked about the history of Cologne from the the time the Romans founded their first settlement at Cologne. The ship was parked near the old town and the cathedral. The walk was not hard but there was a light rain during the walk. After visiting and seeing several sites we entered the cathedral. Our guide gave us a great description of the cathedral. There were many people in the cathedral and it was hard to move around. After two hours on the tour we went back to the ship.
At the ship we had lunch and a presentation about Germany in the afternoon. Because of the weather I did not leave the ship until after dinner.
