I am leaving on a 35-day transatlantic cruise that follows the northern route that the Viking ships are thought to have taken on their expeditions, centuries before Christopher Columbus embarked on his voyage to the New World in 1492. Beginning and ending in Boston we will be on the Holland America ms Veendam, exploring the rugged beauty of Newfoundland, Greenland, Iceland, Norway, and Scotland.
