Day 9 - World Cruise 2015 (Manta, Ecuador)

Tuesday, January 13, 2015

Today the ship arrived in Manta, Ecuador at 5 AM.  I go up early to catch a 8 AM tour called "Isla Corazon".  We left in a state of the art bus for a two hour bus ride to to Bahia de Caraquez.  This was a good chance to see the county side outside of Manta.  Lots of the area was junk land.  We did see a shrimp farm, some banana and rice fields along with some other crops.  We passed thru several villages.  Some of the houses were not more than shacks.  Most were made from cement blocks or wood.  In Colombia, I saw much dirt an liter along the roads but what I saw in Ecuador was clean and the people that I saw were dressed in what is normal clothes in the US and they looked clean.

Our first stop for a snack before we got on a dinghy or boat and take us to Isla Corazon, where we took a walk on a wood plat form to view the forest.  We say some termite houses and crabs in the forest.  We got back on the dinghy and went to another part of the Island where we say many different marine birds, including hundreds of frigate birds and pelicans.  Back in Bahia, we visited the city's Museum of Archaeology.  We then had lunch and returned to the ship.  It was an 8 1/2 hour day. but it went fast.

Before dinner I worked on a report for the previous day along with this report.  After dinner their was no show but they had a movie.  I was not going to the movie but I found out that we were going to have a time change and be gaining an hour so I went to the movie.

Below are some pictures from Manta, Ecuador and my tour to Bahia.

Taken of a Rice Field.
Taken of a rice field that has been cut.  It looks like a machine was used to cut the rice which is different from Indonesia where the rice is cut by hand.
