Today the ship arrived in Georgetown, Penang, Malaysia. Today , the majority of Penang's residents are of Chinese ancestry, and the island's multicultural mix also includes immigrants from India, Australia, Burma, Thailand and all over Malaysia. With a population of nearly 100,000, Georgetown is a vibrant city today. Portuguese sailors on their way from Boa, India in search of spices came across Penang and gave it its name. Its safe natural harbor became a main trading point for ships.
When we arrived the tenders were used because another ship was in the docking space. I had cancelled my tour for the day so I just sat around on the ship in the mourning. At 1:30 PM, we traded places with one of the two docked ships. After we docked, I left the ship and walked around the town for about an hour and then returned to the ship. After dinner the Amsterdam Singers and Dancers gave a program called "Dance", celebrating the art of Dance.
Below are pictures I took from my stay in Penang.
