Today the ship left Dubai, UAE at 6 AM and we are at sea sailing towards Muscat, Oman. The day began with a Mandatory Passenger Safety Briefing at 10 AM. This is required and is the third time we have done it on this cruise. We meet at our life boat station and are checked off and instructions are read to us by the Captain and a crew member shows us how to put on a life jacket. At 11 AM, Kate Ross gave a talk on Islamic Arts of the Mediterranean world. Historians have used the words magnificent, splendid and brilliant to describe the contributions of Muslims to the art and architecture of this region. She talked art of the mosque, the art of Muslim texts and how craftspeople elevated everyday objects producing designs of exquisite quality and beauty. At 2 PM, Ismat Mehidi from India talked about Navigation and Navigators of Oman. She talked about how Omani Sea Farers have been legendary since Babylonian Times.
Today after dinner Buzz Sutherland a comedian was the show.
