Day 78 (Part 2 of 2) - World Cruise 2015 (Dubai, UAE)

Tuesday, March 24, 2015

Today was the second day in Dubai, UAE.  At 7:30 AM I left on a tour called "Northern Emirates".  The tour took us to four of the seven Emirates, Ras Al Khaimah, Umm Al Quwain, Ajman and Sharjah.  Our first stop was at Sharjah where we visited the Sharjah Maritime Museum.  Sharjah is called the cultural capital of the U.A.E. and often thought of as the most conservative of the Emirates.  At Sharjah we stopped at the traditional Al Arsah souk (market).  Our next stop in Ajman, the smallest Emirate where we visited a beautifully restored fort.  Our next stop was at Umm Al Quwain where we stopped at a place where the locals stop and for photos at the Old Fort.  We then drove to a site out in the desert to take pictures at the popular camel race track.  Our next stop was at a resort for lunch.  After lunch we stopped at Ras Al Khaimah where we stopped for photos at Jazirat Al Hamra, the country's last remaining traditionally built village and now a ghost town.  We then drove back to the ship where we arrived at 5:30 PM.

Tonight after dinner, I went tothe movie "Birdman".  It won the 2015 Academy Award for Best Motion Picture, Best Achievement Director and Best Writing, Original Screenplay.  I did not like the movie and I don't see how it won the best picture award.

Below are pictures taken from my tour for the pictures from Ajman to the end of the tour.  For the pictures from the time we left the ship thru the visit in Ajman see part 1 of 2.
