Today the ship arrived in Civitavecchia, Italy at about 7 AM. Civitavecchia is the port city for Rome, the center of Catholicism. This was the second time I have been to Civitavecchia and the third time to Rome. At 8 AM I left on a tour called "Panoramic Rome & St. Peter's Basilica". We stopped for a rest stop at 9:15 and about 9:30 we arrived in the city of Rome. We had a bus tour of Rome with no stops until we stopped for lunch at 11:45 at Ristorante Zagara located near St. Peter's Square. We saw the pyramid of Caius Cestius, Circus Maximus, Palatine Hill, the Colosseum, the Roman Forum, Benice Square, Piazza Barberini, Via Veneto and Borghese Bardens. We crossed the Tiber River and passed by a view St. Peter's Basilica. At 12:45 we left the restaurant and walked 15 minutes before we came in view of St. Peter's Square. At 1:10 we got in a line to enter St. Peter's Basilica and we were in this line for a little over an hour before we passed thru security. We spent 1 1/2 hours in St. Peter's Basilica and walked over to a shop. We spent 1/2 hour at the shop before we walked to the bus and headed back to the ship. We arrived back at the ship at 5:30 PM. The ship left Civitavecchia at about 7 PM.
That evening after dinner there was no show but they had a movie which I did not attend.
Below are part 1 of some pictures taken in Civitavecchia and my tour of Rome, Italy. See part 1 for additional pictures.
