Day 91 (Part 1 of 2)- World Cruise 2015 (Haifa, Israel)

Monday, April 6, 2015

Today the ship arrived in Haifa, Israel at about 7 AM. Haifa is in the northwestern part of Israel. At 8:15 AM I left on a tour called "Golan Heights and Galilee." We headed for Zippori National Park where we arrived at 9 AM. Here we saw ruins from the Roman and Talmudic reas. Here we had views of the Galilee Mountains and the Bet Netofa Valley. In this site was many samples of mosaic. We left the part and headed for the Sea Of Galilee. We stopped at Capharnaum, the town of Jesus. Here Jesus chose many of his apostles. Also located at the stop was the ruins of the Synagogue of Capharnaum and two churches. At 1 PM we had lunch and after lunch we drove thru the town of Tiberius established in 20 AD and named in honor of the Emperor Tiberius. At 3 PM we arrived at the site of the Baptismal of Jesus in the Jordan River just south where the Jordan River leaves the Sea of Galilee. After we left we drove on the East side of the Sea of Galilee and drove by the point where the borders of Syria, Jordan and Israel all meet. We ascended the Golan Heights for a vantage point where we could see the Sea of the Galilee from the East side. We then headed back to Haifa where we ran into several traffic problems. When we got to Haifa at about 7 PM and we drove to the top of Mount Carmel for a view of Haifa. We got back to the ship at a little before 8 PM. I made a quick change of clothes and went to dinner. The show tonight was put on by the Amsterdam Singers & Dancers. At 11 PM the ship left Haifa.

Below are part 1 of pictures of Haifa and from my tour. See part 2 for additional pictures.
