The ship arrived in Sydney, Australia at 6:30 AM. This is the third time that I have been in Sydney, two by ship and one by air. The Australian Government required us to have a Mandatory Australian Immigration Inspection. This required us to leave the ship and get or passport stamped by local officials. We could not get back on the ship until everyone went thru this process. The ship was parked at the overseas passenger terminal which is a better place than we had on the World Cruise in 2013. Our ship was located between the Harbor bridge and the Sydney Opera House. Located next to the ship is the Wharf where boats leave on Sydney Harbor Cruises so I walked over and bought a ticket to the Taronga Zoo located across the bay. The zoo is located on a side of the hill looking over the bay. When we got off the boat at the zoo, we took a bus to the entrance at the top of the hill. We arrived at the entrance about 15 minutes before the zoo opened at 9:30 AM. The zoo has a map which takes us down the hill with some alternate routes. I saw an alligator, a Koolas, birds, chimpanzees, giraffes, Zebras, Lemurs, Kangaros, Emus, Wallabies, Elephants, Monkeys, Seals, a Tasmanian Devil and many other animals. I took in two shows, a seal show and a Free-flight Bird show. The birds show was great. Birds would fly between zoo employees and land on their arm and then return to their cage. I have not seen anything like it. After I walked on the path to the bottom I walk over to the boat and returned to the ship at 1:30 PM. It was a long day so I rested for the rest of the day until I left the ship at 6:30 PM for a performance of Madama Butterfly at the Sydney Opera House. The music was in Italian but they showed the English on a screen. At 11:30 PM, I got back to the ship and I went up to the top of the ship and took some pictures of the harbor at night.
The ship spent the night in the Sydney Harbor.
Below are some pictures on the first day in Sydney.
