Tuesday, February 24, 2015

Today we are at sea on the way to Benoa, Bali, Indonesia. After breakfast I found out that the Kansas and Kansas State Basketball was on ESPN 2 so when I got back to the room I watched the rest of the Louisville and Georgia Tech game was at half-time. I watched the rest of this game and the KU and K-State game started at 10 AM ship time. I watched the game on my rooms TV and at 2 PM I went to a lecturer by Stephen Sloan on Political Violence.

Tonight was a formal night. Tonight was my turn to attend the Captain's Dinner. It started with cocktails in the Culinary Arts Center and moved into the Pinnacle Grill the prime restaurant on the ship. The menu started with Tuna Cannelloni of Dungeness Crab, Avocado, Candied Zest and Caviar. The nest course was Forest Mushroom Veloute' which is Truffle, Creme Fraiche and Chive. The Next course was Lobster Fettuccine, Pimientos, Fennel, Pea Emulsion and next Watermelon Sorbet, Earl Grey Consomme. Next we had a duo of "Cron Fed" and "Grass Fed" Beef Tenderloin with Beet Mille Feuille, Gratin Dauhinoise and Veal Jus. Finally for the desert we had "Ferrero Rocher" Sphere, Hazelnut Cream and Valrhona Chocolate. At the end they game us a gift of an insulated mug with the map of the world cruise produced by Royal Goedewaagen products. This meal was excellent and included Villa Maria Sauvignon Blanc Wine of New Zealand and Light Horse Pinot Noir of California.

After the dinner I went to a show put on by the Amsterdam Singers and Dancers.

Today we have another sea day on the way to Benoa, Bali, Indonesia. After breakfast I normally go to "Good Morning Amsterdam" but I only got on the end because it started at 9 AM and not at its normal time at 9:30 AM. At 10 AM, Barbara gave a talk on Things to See & Do in Singapore. In the afternoon I went to a Australian Movie called "Satellite Boy". It was filmed in the outback and featured a ten year old boy who lives with his grandfather at a place threatened for demolition. Along with his friend they save their home and return home as heroes.

Tonight Annie Gong, the Accordion player gave a mini concert at 7:30 PM and after dinner Doug Starks a singer with impersonations and also comedy gave the show this evening.
